Updating Cassandra

This guide will walk you through updating the firmware on your Cassandra device.
1. Download Firmware
You will need to download the correct firmware for your device type.
2. Run the Uploader
After downloading, you need to unzip the file. Then, you will run the cassandra-uploader.exe
application using the command prompt.
How to open Command Prompt on Windows:
- Press the
Windows Key + R
to open the “Run” dialog box. - Type
cmd
and pressEnter
or clickOK
.
Once you have the command prompt open, you need to navigate to the folder where you unzipped the firmware. An easy way to do this is:
- Open the folder in Windows Explorer.
- Click on the address bar at the top of the Explorer window to highlight the path.
- Copy the path (you can right-click and select “Copy” or press
Ctrl+C
). - In the command prompt window, type
cd
(note the space aftercd
). - Right-click in the command prompt window to paste the path you copied.
- Press
Enter
.
For example, the command will look like this:
cd C:\Users\YourUser\Downloads\master
Now, run the uploader by typing its name:
cassandra-uploader.exe
The application will guide you through the flashing process. Reboot the device after the process is complete.
Repeat the process for the Slave device.
3. Configure Network Settings
After the firmware update is complete, you will need to reset your device and configure its network settings.
- Reset the device.
- On your computer or phone, search for Wi-Fi networks and connect to
PolyMech-AP
. - Open a web browser and navigate to http://192.168.4.1.
- Go to the Settings page, and then to the Network section.
You will see a form to configure the Station (STA) Mode. This allows the Cassandra device to connect to your existing Wi-Fi network. The form will look similar to this:
- Station (STA) Mode
- Connects to an existing Wi-fI network.
- STA SSID: Your Wi-Fi network’s name (e.g., Livebox6-EBCD).
- STA Password: Your Wi-Fi password. The placeholder says “Leave blank if no change”.
- STA IP Address: The static IP for the device.
- STA Gateway: Your network’s gateway address.
- STA Subnet Mask: Your network’s subnet mask.
- STA Primary DNS: Your network’s primary DNS server.
- STA Secondary DNS: Your network’s secondary DNS server.
For the Plastiq client master device, please use these specific settings:
- STA SSID:
CircularMaterialsCenter
- STA Password:
Your Wi-Fi Password
- STA IP Address:
192.168.239.250
(192.168.239.251 for slave) - STA Gateway:
192.168.238.1
- STA Subnet Mask:
255.255.254.0
- STA Primary DNS:
192.168.238.1
- STA Secondary DNS:
100.10.100.1
After filling in the details, click the Save STA Settings button. The device will restart and attempt to connect to your Wi-Fi network with the new settings.
4. Configure the Device
- After patching the firmware, ensure that LoadCell Modbus address is set correctly. In Settings -> Advanced -> General -> Press
